Residential Support Worker – Full Time – Permanent – Margam Port Talbot

We are recruiting for a national charity supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs in Port Talbot.
Your new role
The home is a residential service in Margam, Port Talbot which houses 4 residents with learning disabilities, autism, mental health issues and complex needs. This also includes behaviours which others might find challenging. You will be working with the residents on a 121 and 2 to 1 basis.
In the role you will place importance on helping the service users learn new skills by encouraging them to take an active interest in the running of their home with their own areas of responsibility. This helps improve daily living skills and confidence and as greater independence is achieved we update support plans with the individual to make sure we are maximising their choices and opportunities.
You'll be responsible for supporting an inclusive lifestyle within the community as individuals attend local activities or day trips further afield. Develop greater independence and daily living skills by assisting with the upkeep of the service, preparing meals, shopping and domestic duties. Providing help with personal care such as washing, bathing and dressing whilst working across various shift patterns including early, late and long day shifts and sleeps.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have 6 months experience in a previous social care role.
Desire to support vulnerable individuals with learning disabilities
Exceptional communication skills.
Positive attitude and desire to help others.
Flexibility to work across a 7 day rota.
