SEN TA / Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant Aberdare
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a SEN TA / Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant in a brilliant Special Needs School in Aberdare.
The school is for students of various abilities, ranging from complex EBD, Autism, Non-verbal communications and elements of personal care. The post requires a flexible SEN TA / Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant who is passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting children with additional needs to join their team of dedicated staff.
All applicants must be willing to work across the key stages from ages (4-11) and have a minimum of 6 months experience working with children with SEN / Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. You will need to feel confident within a classroom environment and be able to take direction from a class teacher.
The school itself has a welcoming, nurturing and happy environment. They have implemented mix curriculum areas that are suitable for the different stages of education, creative approaches and essential life skills.
Due to the element of Non-Verbal communication, it is essential for the pupils needs that communication is key in everything they do and will be vital to all that they do within the classroom environment. Each class will have a strategy that suits them which includes PECS, Makaton and body signing. Any experience in these areas would be desirable.
This role will be for 5 days a week with a potential for on going work.
The role will include:
Assisting the teacher with classroom preparation
1:1 work with students with EBD, Autism and non-verbal communications
Feeding and toileting (depending on the class)
